Week 7

Week 7

HEYY! It's so gooood to hear from you! Also I hope to send more photos so far- hopefully by next week I can get some to you!
Wasn't GC amazing?! It was SO GOOD. I have so many notes from the four sessions- I didn't get a chance to watch the priesthood session, we had to go out and tract! but I heard it was good.
Yeah- my companion and I are have to barely buy any food because we are given leftovers so much- we are set. That is huge blessing and deff. helps us stay within our budget. I love the area and I am so glad I decided to serve a mission- we have set a date for a 9 year old girl named cailtin, and she is getting baptized on November 2nd- so that is really exciting!! We have taught a lot of Less Actives too, and they are getting really excited about going to back to church and getting back in the grove of things so we have seen so many miracles happen. It's amazing! WE can witness a miracle everyday if we pray for one-I know it to be true.
Reah 1 Nephi 4 for your personal study-and then record your feelings afterwards. I did as a challenge from one of our other missionaries here in California- and it provided me with relief while I was adjusting to the missionary life.
Hope all goes well with the week- and love you all lots!
Tell everyone hi!

Love you!!

General Conference (and Kale?)

[[Below is a compilation of two emails from Sister Matchett]]

Dearest family :)
How are  you?? I hope you got a chance to watch general conference this weekend- WASN'T IT REALLY GOOD?! It was so good! it's crazy to think I have been out for a month on my mission, and I have already learned so much on what it takes to be a servant of the lord. I am so thankful for you all the examples you have set, and never ending support with helping me have the ability to share the gospel with so many people that I meet.
In General Conference, there were a lot of talks on members and missionaries coming together in reaching those who feel as if they are forgotten. I promise you that even simple acts of service such as calling someone to see how they are doing can make some ones day so much, or even helping mom out with the dishes ( danial! haha) things like that- can bring others joy and comfort. Just knowing someone cares can truly make a difference!
I have seen so many people light up as we're talking to them just because we took the time to hang out with them. Be with them. I invite you to go and do that to someone ( friend, co-worker, family member, etc) You will be doing so much in a small and simple way! If anything new comes up- let me know!! I hope everything at home is well and that you all know that I love you so much. So does the Lord, and he will not leave us alone- all we have to do is pray to him and he will answer our prayers!

Much love,
Sister Matchett

...

I did get a chance to watch GC- and YES, it was soo goood! As missionaries we can't stay at a members house for more than one session on GC so my companion and I watched it at different places, but it was still so good. I loved every single talk. and I agree completely with all the talks being centered on a theme, yet everything fell together for the overall message that we need to serve the lord- ALL day, EVERY day. It was such a cool experience too- because alot of the people we watched it with were Less Actives and they were so into it. Just seeing them motivated and wanting to listen more was inspiring for me as a missionary. This weekend was the best. and I loved every minute of it.

haha yeahh- my companion likes to be active and move around and is super chill so it works out well. And I'm acutally not really picky on food anymore. I have tried so much stuff over here that I love eating lots of fruits, peppers, and I'm even coming around to spicy foods! Some of the people we have dinner with are into really healthy stuff so I have had kale- which is super good btw--> make it in a smoothie with greek yogurt, spinach leaves ( like the bags you get at the store), add some fruits like strawberries or bananna's.... and it's a simple, easy breakfast! And it tastes so good too! Not lying. Deff try it out.

Editors note:
...and so we have learned: watch general conference and eat kale. Thanks, Sister Matchett :)
**Also, please continue to send mail to the address listed. The mission home has requested we send both letters and packages to the mission home so they can direct it to where she is staying. Thank you :)
