Aug 18-Aug 25 First week in new area!

Heyyyy y'all!
Hope your week was great!

This last week was so busy, but it was really fun!
Monday, August 18th.
Last P-day in Chico zone so all of the missionaries that got
transferred to a new area- we all said our goodbyes wrote in
eachothers journal, and then left to go back to our areas and get back
to schedule. So many friendships have been made on my mission, I love
it!
We had dinner at the Toveys house, they requested Monday night so we
could hang out for a little bit before i left paradise. So we had
tacos, and they were so good! Then took some pictures of course!
Attached are those. Then went by to see the brooks, and said goodbye
to them then went back and packed up all my stuff haha which was a
lot. But it fit in a car...so it worked out. Lots of last minute stuff
to do.
I'm getting transferred into my third area now!

Tuesday, August 19th.
Transfer day aka travel day. Funn stuff guys. Normal morning schedule.
Then lunch at izzy's so all of us missionaries did that. The last
group lunch as a paradise district for half of us. Myself, Hanson, and
stephensen left to different areas while light, farnsworth, and hatch
stayed and got everything figured out for their new companions to
come. Also said goodbye to some of the members in the
area...bittersweet moment.
Attached are som photos from izzy's, and with sister McDonald and
sister light. I'll miss the area dearly, but can't wait to serve in
loomis 3rd.
I was ready to go by 1:30pm, and sister McDonald was willing to take
me down to loomis and that's where sister lights new companion was
meeting us so off we went! It was a fun drive down, got into loomis
around 3:30pm and met my new companion...sister kimura! I have met her
at a zone conference before up in redding before so I knew a little
bit about her already- and she is cool. And a fun sister! I always
seem to get really blessed when it comes to companions. They live with
the thomsons, and they are really cool too! The people here are so
great in Cali!
Everyone helped me get my stuff in our room, and everything.  It's a
really nice place, and the area is way good. Blessings y'all!
Waited for sister lights new companion, sister Hobbs, to come ....then
made the exchange and we all went to our different areas just like
that!
I unpacked and settled in then off sister kimura and I went to a
lesson and to do some finding. Did that then dinner, then came back
for planning and night routine.

Wednesday, August 20th.
Morning studies. It was great!
Then we went to see a RC, Margaret, and I just lover her! Somehow she
knew I was going to be there...at this time in loomis. She's so ready
to go to the temple. And is very humble. I love her already.
Then we went to see some of other investigators that we are texting,
Brandon and Ashley! Really cool people!
Then we went by to see a few more people. Got to meet the bishop, he's
way cool and most of the youth...they were having a pool party of some
sort so did that.
Dinner with another awesome family,  really fun people. Really
missionary minded. I love them already.
Then the night routine. Love the area already.

Thursday, August 21st.
Morning studies, then district meeting! Such a good meeting. We all
agreed on a goal for 61 lessons in the next week! So I'm up for the
challenge. Can't wait to work. They are good missionaries, and love
the work. We have a greenie, elder ruble in the district and his
trainer is also a district leader so he's got a lot on his plate. But
he manages it well.
Lunch was great! Then sister kimura and I got a few things we needed
to get done- finished.
Then another lesson, with patsy, such a sweet lady!
Contacted a few referrals from the WML, brother stoddard, and it was
pretty good. Lots of miracles happened! And it was hot haha but that's
no biggie!
Then dinner with a widower, sister swell. And she is cool. We had a
good meal, and the she asked if we could come and help her with
service on Friday and we agreed. Got the elders in on it too, so we
were all ready to help!
We visited more people, then the night routine.

Friday, August 22nd.
Did service for sister swell with the elders for about 3 hours so like
10-1pm, and then she fed us lunch! Love food!
Sister kimura and I did painting for a room she is fixing up while the
elders did yard work.
Lunch was great! Then all of us went back to our areas and cleaned up
then went back to work.
Sister kimura and I saw a few more people, then dinner with sister
swells sons family....so much fun! I clicked with them instantly. They
are the best!! The first thing they said ..." So we heard you sing?"
Haha I asked who said that and then I found out sister kimura told
them that from a conference about 6 months also in Christmas that me
and bunch of other missionaries did a group song. Haha so that was
cool, I have a feeling I'll be doing a duet or trio in sacrament
meeting pretty soon haha!
After dinner, we went to the church and weekly planned. Then went home
and did normal routine.

Saturday, August 23rd.
We had service in the morning at a members home in loomis 2nd ward, so
the zone was there to help tackle slot of weed and a big blackberry
bush there was about 15 missionaries there so we split up and all went
to work. We were all there from 10- 1pm. Got to hang out with a lot of
friends too, so that was fun. And I got some sun, so i got a red tan
line haha!
Then lunch with just the loomis elders and the rest of
sisters....Spanish and us. Only two sets of sisters. It's weird for me
not to see like 6 sets of sisters like I did in Chico....Lincoln zone
is a much smaller zone but the people are so great!
Then cleaned up, and got ready for another lesson with two new
members...it was great!
Then visited a few more people, then dinner. Fun people.
Then came back to the house and we left with the thomsons( members we
live with) for stake conference in Lincoln. It was a really good
meeting, lots of laughs, the mission president and the wife spoke. And
the stake president, such a cool guy! He was speaking about prayer and
how his knees were tired but never noticed sister missionaries knees
being a mess or in too bad of shape and made the comment that we must"
use princess pillows while we pray" lol I was dying in laughter so was
the rest of the stake haha! It was great y'all.
After the meeting, got to meet more people. Love it! Thomsons decided
to go get frozen yogurt, and off we went to get fro yo! Haha it was
pretty sweet, got to hang out with them for a little bit, they really
are down to earth people with a good sense of humor. Then came home
before curfew, and did normal routine.

Sunday, August 24th.
Got up, studies, and then part two of stake conference from 10am-
12pm, it was good! Then lunch, did more finding and teaching after
that. Got to meet more people, then dinner with the joyners. It was
really fun too! Turns out she works in the temple every Saturday so
she knows the wylers, my old WML and his wife in paradise, it was
really cool to talk to her and get to know her too. So dinner was
simple and great!
Then went to see a family in the ward for an appointment to practice
teach with them, and see how they were doing with their missionary
work. It was such a great visit! Really nice people, they have a
gorgeous home in the country. Then the Sunday night routine. That week
flew by! and I love it here already.

Monday, August 25th. Week 2 in loomis 3rd.
Today is P-day! Yay! And because I'm going to the temple( YES! I can
go now cuz I'm closer to it than I was in paradise) on Thursday. We
are going to work for half of today then go to p-day around 2pm.
That's just the rule when it comes to going to the temple, which works
for me! I'm excited to go and feel the spirit and just take a moment
to be still so working half of today isn't too much of a sacrifice.
Got up, and cleaned, and worked, then off to p-day to hang out with
missionaries and chill till 6pm. So that's our day today.

It's only been a week but I love it here! And sister kimura is so
great, she's been out for 10 months, and has such a sweet spirit. And
loves to be a missionary.
I'm learning so much from her already. I hope y'all are doing well and
the you are seeing miracles happen. They happen all the time.
The work here is a bit slow, but the members are so willing to help
and there is a lot of good things going on. They haven't had many
baptisms here lately, so hopefully we can start getting that happening
soon haha so we do a lot more finding in this area than paradise.
Then again, when I left...there was going to be like 3 baptisms
happening and after about 3 months of working towards that goal...and
so many miracles happened.its full of potential. I can't wait to get
started here in loomis.
Another great week ahead!
Have a good one y'all!
Until next week,
Sister matchett

P.S.- enjoy the pictures too!

Companionships (aren't they cute?? ;) )

First district picture in Loomis, CA in front of the chapel

Aug 11th-Aug 18th

Heyyyy y'all! How are ya!
I hope your week was good! Sister lights and I had a really good one.
We saw many miracles happen.

August 11th, Monday. Preparation day LOVE THOSE DAYS.
Hung out in Chico all day pretty much until dinner, we came back for
dinner with sister Moore and the Simmons came and we had Chinese. AND
I ate the entire meal with chopsticks...even the rice...I'm a PRO now
guys, I'm picking up some serious skills on my mission;)  hahaha! I'm
quite proud of myself. Then normal night routine.

August 12th, Tuesday.
A slow day, but still saw miracles.
We had a lesson with maddy and Georgia, two young ladies we picked up
as new investigators, and neighbors of the Holmes. And it was such a
sweet lesson. They are so ready for the gospel. Then right after, we
went to see the fremches and saw them and had a lovely visit with them
then dinner with the gartners, and had a lesson with them after dinner
so that was fun! Then the normal night routine.

August 13th, Wednesday.
My last district meeting in paradise. We talked a lot about having
"faith filled finding" and working with members to hasten the lords
work.
Then a lesson with Dottie, and she is doing well! I just love her so much!
Then we headed to the Toveys for a lesson with tony, but he was a
no-show...which happens lol but we were all kinda bummed. We ended up
just talking to the members about their missionary work and had a
lesson with them so it was just what needed to happen I guess.
Everything always works out. Then dinner, then finding, then the night
routine!

August 14th, Thursday.
Lesson with marque, LA we teach, and we finished the BOM! It was
exciting too because the spirit was so strong in that lesson. I was
reminde of just how much I have to be grateful for, knowing the
sacrifice all the people in the pat have gone through to make sure
those plates made it into the hands of Joseph smith so we, modern day
saints, have the Book of Mormon today to learn about and share
Christ's with those around us. It really is such a gift to have.
Moroni's testimony is so strong and sincere. I always love reading the
very last chapter!
Then we had another lesson with Julie, and sister McDonald came to
help her with her family history! We saw a miracle happen folks!
Within 20 minutes, sister McDonald was able to find the name of
Julie's great grandmother and her husband, who she has been trying to
find for years...so she was able to start adding more names to her
tree! HUGE miracle. And she learned more about who he was and what he
did, etc. Family history work is so cool...I hope y'all try it
sometime! You really find out more about your family than you think.
Those people who lived before us are very much real and apart of us.
Julie said she would be at church too!
Then dinner with sister Mathews and her husband, then did more finding
then the night routine!

August 15th,  Friday.
Last weekly planning session for this area. It went well!
Then we did some finding today, we didn't have any set lessons with
anyone so we went out and visited some more people we haven't been
able to go out and see and it was a good day!
We got to meet this wonderful lady, Sheila , and picked her up as a
new investigator! So that was cool!  Well see her this coming week to
go over the restoration with her! Then had dinner with the turners,
and they are great member missionaries! I love them so much!
Then a lesson with the Hamners, and we read more of the BOM with them
and it was such a great visit!
Then night routine.

August 16th, Saturday.
We did service at the Hamners in the morning for about two hours and
did a lot with all of us working together. Then had lunch together.
Then sister lights and I left to clean up and get ready for baptism
while the Hamners cleaned up and got ready for a funeral service for
one of their dear friends.
The paradise first elders had a very simple, but well done program for
the baptism of an older lady, Ann, and she was ready to be baptized!
The elders that started teaching her were able to come and visit her
at her special day so that was cool. I love how strong the spirit is
at baptisms. It makes everything we do as missionaries so worth it
....to feel those people feel the spirit and just feel the peace and
lifting up of their burdens ....gone! the gospel brings to all of us
that freedoms to feel joy and peace.
Then we had more finding and visiting more people then dinner and then
prepared for our meetings for Sunday.

August 17th, Sunday.
We had Julie, and James at church today! Not too many people as far as
investigators came but we had a few come so that was good! Tony has a
lot of pain going on with his back, so he wasn't able to come...I hope
he can feel better soon! Back pain isn't fun at all. There was a good
turnout with many of the members, and they are totally on board with
member missionary work so lots of good things happening! It was a
great service today today! Then dinner with the chatfields, and it was
lovely!
Then a visit with some members !
The other big thing that happened was transfer calls....yep! It's been
6 weeks already! And I'm going to loomis 3rd ward, my next area so
it's bound to be good, I loved my 7 1/2 months here in paradise....it
really was paradise! And the good news is I might be able to go back
up ( loomis is only 2 hours south of paradise) when Phil and Michelle
and tony pick a date for their baptisms ....and I can come back up to
see them! So that should be really exciting! So this isn't goodbye,
just a short break.
I love the people here so much, and i know sister light and the next
sister will love it and take care of it! Sister light is such a
stellar missionary! I've learned so much from her!

August 18th, Monday of week 1.
Today it's the normal routine plus packing so that's what I'll be
doing and getting the rides taken care of as well as the contacting my
new companion and stuff like that. Her name is sister kimura, and has
been out for 7-8 months so a little younger than I am in a sense, but
I'm excited to go and serve with her!
And all of us missionaries that are getting transferred are hanging
out, and signing eachothers journals so Tuesday I'll be leaving
paradise ...bittersweet moment....and I'll let ya know how that goes!
Area number 3, here I come! I can't wait to go to work there!
Miracles happen daily. I hope y'all see them. They exist. I can promise that.
Well, time is short, lots to do today.  I love you. And pray for y'all daily.
Keep going, and remember that the lord loves you ALWAYS.
Have a great week!
Until next week,

Sister Matchett

Aug 4th-Aug 11th

Hello all! How are ya? I hope well!
This week was busy and full of miracles. We worked a lot with the
members, and visited them..so it was great! The ward is on fire right
now with wanting to be member missionary's.

Monday, August 4th.
Typical P-day, hung out in Chico. And had a great lesson with jerry
and Lisa brooks, our newest recent converts, and they are doing well!
Then the night routine.

Tuesday, August 5th.
Slow morning, but we made a lot of phone calls and contacted a lot of
people so it was good. It also rained a little bit too, much needed
rain so it worked out.
We did some finding, and then dinner. We had a good discussion about
missionary work with the members, and our ward mission leader was
there too so it was cool getting to know him more and get some more
ideas on what the ward can do to increase the missionary work in the
area.
After dinner, we stopped by another sister in the ward council, sister
Davis. We talked more with her on some things that we could do as a
ward to have more missionary opportunities. Then the nightly routine.

Wednesday, August 6th.
We had a zone meeting in Chico, and President and Sister Marshton were
there so it was cool to receive some revelation for those that we
teach and for ourselves too.
After the meeting, we went to eat lunch then came back to paradise and
went straight to visiting those people we got some tips for!
We had dinner with a family at a local diner, and it was great!
And then went to mutual.
We were asked to share/ teach some of the youth of what is like to be
a full time missionary so sister light and I, were happy to go and do
it!
We had the chance to have Sister Marshton come too! So it was fun!
Working with the youth was a blast! We didn't have a lot ....lol like
only 2 youth were there but it was still pretty good. We went over the
restoration and watched a little bit of the Joseph Smith movie, then
it ended at 8:30 so the youth left and then as we were cleaning
up...President was talking to the leaders in charge of mutual and
asked if we would plan another one! And let them know so him and
sister Marshton could come so that's going down! Another one to come!
Love the people here in this area!
Then the normal night routine.

Thursday, August 7th.
Busy day!
We had a lesson with Dottie, and that went well!
Then lunch, and another lesson with marque. We are almost done with
the BOM!! That's exciting!
Then went to the church to watch another video on the restoration with
Julie, and sister McDonald came to that lesson too so it was really
good!njulies really starting to get it!
Then dinner with the avery family, we had a lesson with Ashley while
her parents were getting stuff ready to go for dinner. Then dinner, it
was fun! I love that family so much! I really feel like they are "my
people" haha they are such a gem to teach, talk about a good Mormon
family....that's them!
Then after dinner, we had a lesson with the parents and they are both
on board to be baptized just not until September sometime so now they
are looking at a date for that. But they love church so far, and are
keeping all of their commitments. So it was a great lesson! Then the
night routine.

Friday, August 8th.
We helped out in the morning with a humanitarian aid service run by a
sister in the ward, did that until 10:30am, then had lunch and got to
hang out with some of the women in the ward.
Dottie was there too! She loved it!
Then after we cleaned up, we went to visit another recent
convert...Jessie. She was baptized in December of last year ...so we
stopped by to see how she was doing and ended up having some lunch
with them too lol but it was nice to visit with them and set up
another time to read with her so it was good!
Then went to Magalia to find more people.
Then a lesson with cris and sister Witta, it was another great lesson.
Then dinner, and then a lesson with the Hamners( another couple we
teach too) so...we were busy. But it was such a good day.
We didn't weekly plan at all with everything that happened so we made
time in nightly planning to do it on Saturday.

Saturday, August 9th.
Planned in the morning, then went to a baptism for paradise 1st and it was good!
Then had a lesson with James and Jim smith, talked a lot about
service. And they are pros at it! Such good examples so it was a great
lesson!
Then lunch, and more finding in Magalia.
We stopped by tony, the friend of the Toveys, and he was home! Some we
have him some ensigns and stuff to read and invited him to church and
said he got some ties and new shirts! All for church! That was cool to
hear! He said he would be there!
Then stopped by the Holmes neighbor, Greg and his family. We ended up
talking to his daughter, maddy and Georgia( friend) and they both
agreed to visit with us again to learn more! So that was cool! Then
the rest of her family came out and we talked with them for a little
bit before we left for dinner.
Then did more finding after dinner and then night routine of planning.

Sunday, August 10th.
SHOUTOUT GUYS! To...my favorite people in the world! My sister and her partner!
Happy 2nd Anniversary to Jessica and Taylor Smith!! You guys are the best : D
The morning meetings went really well! And there were a lot of LA
families at church as well as the Avery's and tony! He was so excited
to be there! We were happy too haha! He stayed for all meetings too,
he loved it! Love it when people enjoy church!
Then after church, we updated the Areabook and then went to a lesson
with the paradise 1st elders. Jason, one of their investigators, asked
if we could come and say hi! So we did, and the elders and us taught
him the plan of salvation, he had lots of good questions so it was a
lot of fun acutally.
Then dinner, and then more contacting people then called in numbers
for the week. Same schedule lol it was a great week!

Monday, August 11th.
It starts week 6 today!  And that means that transfer calls are next
Sunday so we will see what happens!
Our plans for today, hanging out and chillin haha going to a park to
play soccer so it should be good then we have dinner with sister
Moore, love her! Going out to Chinese food...yummm! It will be great!
Then more visiting people!

I love y'all and hope you guys are seeing those tender mercies of The
Lord everyday...they are definitely there! And everything eventually
works out haha that's what I've learned so far! So remember to have a
little faith, and just let The Lord take control and you WILL see
miracles happen. Promise!
Have a great week!
Until next time,

Sister matchett :)

izzy's, they are out of town for two weeks for family reunion so we

Dottie with sister Hawe, the RS president, and it went really well! So
that was a a miracle!
Then lunch, and I recieved a letter from another friend of mine in her
mission in the Arcadia mission. It was cold to hear from her! I love
letters!
Then had a lesson with marque, and it was good!
She gave us a bunch of kale and other things from her garden so that was cool!
Then went by too Ashley, and started teaching her new member lessons
so it was cool to see her testimony grow.
Then dinner, and then we went to a BOM class  for the people around
paradise and it was good!
Then normal night routine.
Friday, August 1st.
We did weekly planning for a little, took a break and went to help
move some people in 3rd ward because we had a truck lol it's bound to
happen! We helped those people out for like 2 hours and it was
hot....but it was fun! We got to meet a lot of people. And I got some
sun haha so that was good.
Came back, finished planning. Had a lesson with cris, and it was good
to see her! She's doing well! She said she would try out church on
Sunday!
After that lesson, we got a prompting to go see tony, the friend of
the Toveys, and he was at home. We were able to talk to him and make
contact with him since he had something come up on Tuesday. It was a
good visit too!
Then visited Doug Lee, good contact with him. Then had a good visit
with John and Lisa Ludlow, the parents of Emily and kylie( two little
girls who were baptized in April) and we were finally able to talk
about new member lessons with their girls..MIRACLE! it was a huge
miracle, and we are finally getting things going again! Love how the
spirit guides you to where you need to be!
Then dinner, and then we had a lesson with the Hamners and it was really good!
Then the same night routine.

Saturday, August 2nd.
Made phone calls, visited a few people  then went to ally ( Ashely's
younger sisters) birthday party at a park. We were invited by Michelle
and Phil, and Lisa brooks was there too so it was fun! The theme was
frozen, and yes, it was really cute. We got a lot of pictures of the
decorations and the food and with the Avery's and Lisa and her kids.
Those are attached too, enjoy! It was fun! We were out in the sun for
awhile, so around 3pm we left and went home to eat some lunch then
went to Magalia to see some more people. And we were staying
hydrated....it was hot lol
We went to see a neighbor of the Holmes, the flemming family. So it
was fun! We talked with pat, and greg( the dad), and were able to
share a message with them then pick up the dad as a new investigator.
So that was fun! Then went back to paradise for dinner, and to a
lesson with Julie, and we read from the BOM with her and she is really
getting it. She loves everything so far! She's doing well.
Then went home around 8:30pm, and got everything ready to go for ward
council on Sunday. Normal night routine!

Sunday, August 3rd.
Meetings were really good in the morning! Church went really well, we
fasted for some of our investigators and for the mission to double
their baptisms. Testimony meeting was really good, and we were able to
see a lot of people (LA's) come too as well as some of our
investigators. It was really cool. Cris came and she had a good
experience! So it was good to hear that! A lot of the members here are
really pumped to be missionaries. The work here is good! Then after
church, we had dinner with the milbergs and ralfes...it was some
really good food. So good, and we had a good conversation on the work
and everything. Really missionary minded people.
Then went to see a friend of brother milbergs, George white. A LA
member. He isn't interested in coming back too soon but was really
nice to us and thanked us for the invite.
Then went by to see a few more people, then came back home and did
normal Sunday routine...called in numbers, called people, all that
stuff haha so it was a really good week.
Lots of miracles happened, and the week ahead is looking busy which is
good and we are happy missionaries! Yay, love being in the service of
The Lord. It's the best thing to do.

Monday, August 4th. Week 5 of transfer#5 in paradise. Today marks my
11 month mark and my 7 month mark in paradise. Time had gone by so
fast, but I love it so far!
I hope y'all are doing well!
Typical P-day stuff, hanging out in Chico then having dinner with the
brooks tonight! I love them so much! They're going strong as ever and
are eating up everything still as recent converts.
Then getting ready for tomorrow, lots of lessons booked so it's going
to be a good day.
Sister lights and I are getting along great! She's awesome.

Hope your seeing those miracles happen, because they do everyday! And
there are tender mercies given to is from The Lord...he really is in
"the details of our lives".
You guys are the best, and I love y'all!
Have a great week!
Until next time,
Sister Matchett

P.S- enjoy the pictures, there are quite a few (Marques garden & Ally's birthday party)
