Helllo again and Happy New Years!
2014 is now here, how was the year of 2013 for you all? Was a good one? Were there things that you could improve on? Any new goals for the new year? I sure have a few lol
I know I had a lot to reflect on as I was planning for the next few weeks of our area (Rio Linda) with Sister Paul. We had a very busy year, and right after the start of the new year- we were off teaching and talking to everyone we met on the street, in the store, etc. We are so very excited to start this year, and have been very blessed by the Lord. This week was busy, like we were on the go. a lot.
Yesterday, the 5th, we met up with a girl who we contacted on the streets. Kayla, wanted to meet up with us when we called and asked her if she wanted to learn more. So we met up with her yesterday around 4 pm, and she brought her two younger sisters and a friend. We taught the restoration to all four of them, invited them to baptism- they all accepted ( no date yet though- soon!) and all were eager to read the Book Of Mormon. We picked up four new investigators in just one lesson. That was so inspired!
We were also able to set a date with one of investigators, Dixie, who has been investigating the church for quite a few years so that was another miracle we were able to witness. The list could go on and on. We are busy, but are being given so many blessings as we simply go out and find people to invite to learn more about the gospel. Mission Life is the best!!
Since it's a new year, I was reading today in my studies on faith. How could I increase my faith in my savior Jesus Christ? What can I do to help bring about his work?
I read in 1 Nephi 14:14, and this verse stuck out to me as I was reading:
(this is a little part of the verse)
"... and upon the covenant people of the Lord, who were scattered upon the face of the earth and they were armed with righteousness and with power of God in great glory!"
We as members of the Lord's church, are protected with his power to overcome the worlds attack on our morals, beliefs, and Christ's doctrine if we simply read from our scriptures, pray, go to church, go to the temple, etc. All simple answers we remember from Primary, but they really are the biggest things that strengthen our faith. If we can remember to do those things every day. We can all help the Lord bring about miracles and share the gospel with everyone. Our faith will increase. I received an answer, and I felt the spirit testify of it's truth. I invite you all to look that up in 1 Nephi chapter 14- it's a great read.
I hope all of you are well, and that your holidays were fun and enjoyable. I hope you remember how great you all are indiviually and know that the Lord knows you and loves you! Have a great week!
Until next time,
Sister Matchett
