September 1st- September 8th

Heyyyy all! :)
I hope this week was great for y'all!
I heard that BYU vs. UT game was brutal for Texas...boo :( but the
cougar fans were so happy for the win...so I heard about that a lot
from members in my ward...turns out they are big into football season
too lol and LOVE THE COUGARS...so when they found out I was from Texas
they were chuckling a little bit hahaha but that's okay...I'm still a
Texas fan!  HOOK'EM!  :)

Alright so this week, another great week! Saw many miracles happen!
Onto the letter!
Monday, September 1st. preparation day/ Labor Day:) aka PARTY DAY!
It was great! Had lots of fun doing the normal stuff we do on Mondays
so it was good. We didn't have any party invites from any of the
members as well as any of the other missionaries in the zone lol so we
all partied it up by playing sports and stuff so that was fun! And I
got some extra vitamin D too...it was great!
Sister kimura and I also had the chance to visit with one of our
investigators, charla, and we visited with her for a little bit. She's
great!
Then dinner, then did some finding.

Tuesday, September 2nd.
We had district meeting , and it was such a spiritual experience. We
all were touched by the spirit as we talked about our prayers and why
we love being out on missions. It was good stuff!
Then had lunch, and went to visit some people people!
It was hot outside lol so we both decided to get frozen yogurt lol and
it was for like $2 so...why not?! The coolest thing happend....we saw
one of our investigators there, Brandon! And he was so excited to see
us lol we were excited to see him too! So we got to talk to him for a
little bit and then got some lovely frozen yogurt. It was great!
Had another great lesson with Margaret! I love her so much already!
She's teaching me more than she knows on how to truly give your whole
heart to The Lord. She's the best example of it.
Then dinner, and then went over to the astles to see how they were
doing and practice teach with them...so that was cool! Then the night
routine.

Wednesday, September 3rd.
Most of our set lessons/ appointments fell through so we did a lot of
visiting people and finding.
We went by to see this woman named Ruth, she's been meeting the
sisters for awhile...believes that Joseph Smith was a prophet...all of
the doctrine we believe...just won't commit...and dosen't want to
change. My heart was so sad!  because she could get all those extra
blessings...but she's content with her life for right now...and we
can't really change that part of people. So it was still a good visit
regardless.
Then more finding then dinner with the mariners, and it was great! A
simple meal, salad and then brownies it was great!
Then went by to see charla, sister kimura and I both recieved a
prompting to go see her so we did!
Turns out it was perfect timing! Charla was having a really bad night,
and needed someone to talk too so we helped her calm down and then
called the zone leaders to come and giver her a blessing so they came
and did that...that took like two hours though but it was good for her
and we were able to help her through so,e things that have been
troubling her. Then the normal night routine.

Thursday, September 4th.
So that was my year mark.....MY OFFICIAL YEAR MARK. Only 6 more months
then I'll be home again....that is so crazyy.
I reflected on the journey I've taken so far...and I have changed
since I came out...it's weird to think that time is flying by so fast
now. Everything is just going, going, going, and I still feel like I'm
just learning how to be a missionary. Haha I can't quite explain
it....but I have developed a stronger relationship with the savior and
with serving others. Life really is about serving others...that's how
we get the most joy....it's all laid out for us. So simply put too in
the phrase( that's repeated over and over again in the
scriptures)...." Keep the commandments" and we are PROMISED ...that we
will be blessed for doing our best. SIMPLE.
I love this gospel.
It was a great morning, we did service with a LA sister, then went to
Taylor's and got a milkshake to celebrate my year mark! It was great!
Then talked to a few people and had some awesome contacts with people,
then saw Brandon and Ashley and their two daughters...we were able to
have a good lessons with them all and see how they were doing!
Then visited some more families on the street too, then went to the
stake Relief Society dinner and it was great!
I got a blessing from some of the elders because...well...I got hit
with the cold ( and I've been trying to fight it) and got really sick
...and and my body wasn't able to take anymore so...they were a huge
help and I was able to get some medicine and then go to sleep when we
got home.  It's a humbling experience asking for help lol let me tell
ya! It makes you more grateful for the little things. That was the
rest of the night pretty much, I wasn't able to function at all so I
was out for the rest of the night.

Friday, September 5th.
I slept most of the day. And rested. Sister kimura and the thomsons
and the elders and everyone else that went on splits with her for the
day...were a huge help. I was being watched over and taken care of. So
that was good.
I was out for most of the day, so kimura ran the area. She's a pro!
How lucky am I that she's my companion? So lucky! When I wasn't
sleeping I was writing letters to LA's and RC's we are working with in
the area...so I was still able to work!

Saturday, September 6th.
It was a more productive day than Friday lol but I was still out of
it...but able to get up and eat so that was good! After planning for
the next week, I got up and we went out to see a few people.
We had dinner and FHE with the Barry's and oakdens, and it was great!!
The spirit was so strong there!  Then went by to see a few more people
then planned. And I took some medicine and went to bed. You can't miss
church as missionary haha!

Sunday, September 7th.
Sundays are the best! Especially fast Sundays! It was cool to see how
prayers are really powerful and can bring miracles. Almost everyone
that bore their testimony mentioned something about prayer, and the
spirit was so strong.
We had one investigator come, tony, the husband of one of the the
active sisters in the ward. So he's warming up to the idea of baptism,
we have lots of part member families to work with. It's going to be
fun! I love the area already, the members and people we have to teach
are great!
After church, we went over to the fardeneshs for dinner and got to
meet their family then went to visit another member to work on the
online dinner calendar...I'm excited for that. It should be good.
Then the normal night routine, and called in numbers for the week, and
got ready for tomorrow then bed.

Monday, September 8th,
Preparation day!
Doing the normal things, hanging out with the other missionaries,
emailing, and getting my hair done. I have no idea of what I'm doing
yet- just figured it would be good to do something with it. So I'll
let ya know next week haha! Sister kimura wanted her hair cut so she
set up a time to get it done with a member we know. It should be fun!
Then I'll be going on exchanges with sister bugg, one of the STL's in
the area, for tonight and some parts of tomorrow! I'm excited! It
should be good!
I hope you guys have a great day today, and that you see miracles happen!
Love y'all! Have a good one!
Until next week,
Sister matchett :)

P.S. Attached are some photos from my year mark! And with sister

kimura while we were out and about! Enjoy!
