Hellurrr everybody. It's matchett.
How are yall? Well, I hope. Another great week. Yall ready for this?! LETS GO.
Monday, November 3rd.
Typical p-day. Did errands, cleaned, emailed, and hung out with the
missionaries in Lincoln zone. It was fun just to play sports and do
normal stuff haha.
Elder johnson and Pruitt from the loomis area are going home next
week...it's going to be a short week for them ...they both are
wonderful elders and have served well. They truly changed on their
mission. It's weird for me to think time goes by so much faster now.
Left lincoln around 4:30ish, then went back and got ready for dinner.
Dinner was with the lakes, they dropped off food at our house...they
had family come in unexpected so they were with them and they still
gave us food! Seriously, such kind people. So many good people in this
ward.
Then after we ate, left to go visit the McLeod family to see how their
day of fasting went. And it was such a good visit!
Then went to see the barrys, and had a short message with them and got
to set up another time to see them this week. It was a great for
preparation day lol so many good things happened...and it's just the
start of the week.
Tuesday, November 4th.
We had our final district meeting for this transfer with elder johnson
and Pruitt before they go home next Monday. YUP! They are almost done.
Only one more week left. It was one of the best DM's I've ever had-
the spirit was so strong. We all were able to share with eachother how
missions have changed our lives. It was a great meeting.
Had lunch, then tried to go see margaret and we weren't able to get to
her house- there was an event for one of the police officers who was
shot a month ago in auburn being held on taylor road so it was cut off
for us to drive anywhere. We set up a time for a lesson and service at
Margaret's on Wednesday. Then went to see some more people, and then
did service at sister Linda swells with the elders and we got a lot
done.
Went home and cleaned up, then headed to dinner with sister fregnal.
And it was a great meal and time at her house!
Then the BOM class at the church, and Elder Bradshaw and Elder Rubow
came and one of the members in the loomis 2nd Ward came...we read
Lehi's dream in 1st Nephi 8, and it was a good discussion. Lots of
insight.
Then went to visit more people after and night time schedule.
Love loomis. Love being a missionary. Love serving.
Wednesday, November 5th.
Slow morning, tried to go see some people in the morning and mid day
but no one was really home...we tried to see them anyways!
We went and do service at Margaret's, then had a lesson with her and
helped her with some things she needed done with her lesson in
primary. It was such a good visit! She just loves people and accepts
them as they are. She ALWAYS teaches me everytime we go over there.
Went home and changed, took care of phone calls.
Left around 5pm, and tried to see a few more people before dinner with
the powers.
We got to dinner, and sister powers was running late...really
stressed...so we helped her out! And just talked to her, and
everything was alright! We shared the "you never know" video with
them, and it calmed everyone down. Then in the prayer, one of her
daughters farted.loudly.....we were all laughing so hard after we
finished. Love little kids.
After dinner we went to the astles, and saw her family and had a great
lesson with dacoda and her family. We shared "the hope of gods light"
video and then went around and shared what we liked about it...so cool
how the church makes these videos that relate with so many
people....the spirit was so strong! Turns out her daughter, was going
through a rough spot...and sister astle was trying to figure out what
to tell her...and her daughter wanted the lesson too...she made sure
to stay for it. This is truly the Lords work. It's cool to be apart of
those small moments. Dacoda liked it a lot too. So we are going to
meet up again soon and start teaching more! Then went to start brother
Donavan's fast with him and we all got some good insight!
Then night time schedule, and bed.
Thursday, November 6th.
Went and saw ashley in the morning, had a really good visit with her.
Then went and did service for sister staker for about 3 hours ..so
lots of yardwork. It was fun getting to help her too, she's got a lot
going on and gives so much of her time. I just love her so much!
Then came home, and cleaned up. Did more finding, got some things
needed to be done then dinner with the wooden family! We got to visit
with them and spend time with their wonderful family- two little ones,
both cute too haha!
They had a good day of fasting, and are still seeking those missionary
moments too. Then went and saw president Alston, talked with him for a
little bit. Then went to follow up with the Johnson's about their day
of fasting....all good visits.
Miracles are happening. We were able to set up a time with brandon and
ashley, the couple we are teaching for Saturday! Then contact a few
more people and build more trust in the ward. The 40 day fast is
working already. I love working with the members! We are busy! Good
problem to have haha day was good!
Friday, November 7th.
Weekly planning was today! It went well, and then lunch.
Went and did more finding. Then had another great lesson with austin
and gerald.....all of us were laughing at his jokes and just hanging
out talking about Jesus and his gospel. It was great! The memories we
are making...so great. I love these people here so much!
Went and saw wendy after, she had a good day today. We had a good read
from one of the talks given in conference. And then we headed over to
the barrys for dinner...and Sean made tacos...it was all good. They
accidentally put celery out instead of lettuce haha so we had celery
burritos haha it wasn't too bad actually.
We were able to watch a church video with them, and it led to a good
conversation about the church...and their prayers and studies. It was
great. Then came home and got in bed after planning. We were tired.
Great day. Saw a lot of miracles. Great stuff friends.
Saturday, November 8th.
Did service all morning. First service project at Part member family,
brother abdons wife isn't a member and he has a huge amount of
property so we went over and did some yardwork for them. We got to
meet Tena, his wife. Really nice lady. Then went over and helped the
loomis 1st elders do some service with them at a members house
there...lots of stuff to do in her backyard...just cleaning it up ..so
we helped them do that, then had lunch with them! She had a bunch of
pizza, salad, and some muffins for us lol and had us take it home plus
more food she gave us. Turns out she's a convert, so we talked with
her about her story and got to know her. It was great. And we got to
have lunch one more time elder Johnson and rubow too! It was a great
visit.
Then went home and cleaned up. Went and tried to contact a few
referrals, some were receptive..some weren't. Saw grace again!
Then went and stopped by the Gordon's! A couple who doesn't come to
church that often because of health reasons....brother Gordon and his
wife have been waiting for 18 months to know if brother Gordon
qualifies for a new heart...and they got a phone call saying he was
accepted! So now he just has to go in and get a few more things
done...but it was an answer to their prayers ...and they looked more
happy and excited than they have been in the past visits. It was an
inspired visit because we also found out some info about another
family we have been trying to reach too! Miracles yall. They happen.
Then came home for dinner, our dinner fell through. So we ate
leftovers from lunch- it worked out! Then went and saw brandon and
ashley...and had a great lesson with them! Things are finally falling
into place and they trust us more so they were more open with us!
Prayers are working. And we are being blessed. Then went and tried to
see a few more people, than home and nightly planning. And got ready
for Sunday.
Great day. I love serving the Lord, and seeing people grow in the
gospel. And seeing myself grow. Love loomis.
Sunday, November 9th. Transfer call night.
Had meetings in the morning, they went great. Then had lunch, and went
to see Anne west before another meeting. She wasn't feeling too well,
but it was a good visit.
Then church, and it was packed. We had two investigators there...Tony
and Sean came! Both the spouses of active sisters in their Ward.
Sister barry( Sean's wife) spoke and she did so good! Lots of people
came too! We got ready for teaching a lesson in RS during second
hour....lesson was on missionary work...it was difficult for us - but
thankfully it all worked out. Haha! It went better than we expected.
Went and saw the simenson/Carrillo family after church, great visit.
Dinner was with the la Plantes, and Tony was there! He's been working
a lot lately, so it was nice to see him! Dinner was great, and we had
a lovely message at the end.
Then went and saw charla, she's fasting tomorrow in the 40 day
fast.she was excited too! We were able to have a really good lesson
with her too. Then updated, and met up with the ZL's and other elders
in loomis and got some pictures together.....and was handed a package!
I was exciteddd. My sis, Jessica, sent it for my birthday. Which is
next week...crazy guys. I'm going to be 21. Woah.
Then got ready for Monday, and waited for transfer calls....and me and
pickup are staying together!! For another 6 weeks. YES. And I don't
have to pack. I love when I don't have to pack haha!
And we have some great missionaries coming in to replace elder Johnson
and Pruitt.
Then bed.
Monday, November 10th.
Today, doing the normal. Going to eat breakfast with the elders one
more time to chill before the two going home...offically leave for
home and stop at the mission office before noon today. Sista pickup
and I will go to lincoln and have a signing journal party too with the
other missionaries getting transferred. So it's going to be a good
day.
Then meet with the barrys after dinner for another lesson. Yay!
Hope yall had a great week! Love yall. Believe in miracles....they
happen everyday. So much to be grateful for.
Another great 6 weeks ahead!
And enjoy the pictures too- lots of them this week!
Until next week,
Sister matchett.
