Monday, November 10th.
Today, doing the normal. Going to eat breakfast with the elders one
more time to chill before the two going home...offically leave for
home and stop at the mission office before noon today. Sista pickup
and I will go to lincoln and have a signing journal party too with the
other missionaries getting transferred.
Left lincoln around 5:30pm, and got ready for dinner with the
Suchomels. And they made homemade pizza- so good! Then went and saw
the barrys, and had another great lesson with them! They put our
"turkey decorations " on their holiday tree.
Cute! They like them! We watched another church documentary video on the church.
Then went and saw some more people. Then planned, and night schedule.
So it was a good day.
Tuesday, November 11th.
Went out and Saw a few people, then went to the church for a lesson
with a LA lady, sister Munoz, but she forgot and we rescheduled for
Wednesday. Then had lunch.
And went over to the la Plantes, it was just JC and her mom. We helped
them out a little bit! And then went and contacted a few referrals,
stopped by whitney to see how she was doing ...good visit! Then went
and saw the Greers, another LA/ PMF family we have been trying to get
ahold of and finally got contact with them! And stopped by wendy. It
was chilly outside, it's starting to get into the cold weather
Then dinner with the neves, they served 2 senior missions. Both
proselyting and in the office ...so it was fun getting to know them.
They made soup. Which was so yummy btw. It's soup season yall. Love
it.
Then went to the BOM class, and no one came. So we left to go see some
more people! Since it was transfer day, the elders got their new
companions while johnson and Pruitt were getting home.
Met elder rubows new companion, and our new district leader- elder
giesler. Super nice and ready to work. Then the new ZL who replaced
elder pruitt. His name is elder Gilles. Super chill and nice too! I
can tell we are all going to get some work going ...and continue the
example set for us by johnson and Pruitt. And we are probably going to
laugh a lot too hahaha all of us put together...we were cracking
jokes. It was great.
Then came home and planned, and got ready for bed.
Great day!
Wednesday, November 12th.
Morning we went and saw a bunch of people, tried to contact some
referrals.no one was home though so we left cards.
Then had lunch, and sister likes, a sister who served in loomis
before, was done with her mission and her parents drove from Georgia
to pick her up and she wanted to see some people here! So we saw them
at lunch, then at margrets also...we did service for magret too, it
was good stuff! So it was fun! They got pictures too!
Then changed, and went over to rachel mcgigans house to teach Danika,
her oldest daughter, who wants to be baptized so we reviewed...and set
up another time for Thursday to finish the lessons then go from there!
The whole family is excited too- Danika is ready to go!! I love it.
Then went and tried to see some more people, make contacts, and then
dinner at the church for a RS activity....it was a lot of fun too!
Then followed up with the hodgkins about their day of fasting...and it
was a great visit!
Then home, planning, and bed.
Thursday, November 13th.
We had zone meeting this morning, and it went really well.
Had lots of discussion on exact obediance, love, and got to hear from
some of the high council members...it was all great! That went from
10:30am- 1:30pm. Then had lunch at lincoln Chinese as a zone...I was
fasting so everyone else ate while I sat there chillin haha it was
funn though!
Then left back to loomis, and went to change for a service project
with a lady in the Ward...but I got this feeling we shouldn't be
there...it was a strong feeling too, we both felt weird about doing it
for that time so we didn't go..and everything worked out fine with
sister staker...so we were able to reschedule and set up another time.
We don't know why we felt off about it...but we followed the prompting
of the spirit. And went back home, changed into normal work
clothes...and went out to see some more people until the lesson with
Danika, and rachel mcgiguan.
We taught lesson 5 by making it a matching game with each topic and
one scripture that was simple enough to get the main idea of what it
was. Danika picked it up quick, and was able to understand, and it was
cool to see how willing she was to learn. I love teaching children.
She's ready to go for baptism, and her family is ready and excited
too!
Then dinner with bishop and his wife, the lathams, they took us to
paneras...and it was a great visit with them. They are quite the busy
parents, one daughter getting married....another one going on a
mission, and another one being busy doing dance and piano and school.
They are so great! All of these things going on and happening in a few
months. Crazyy.
Then went to see an Investogator, Kathy, who we haven't seen in
awhile...and we were prompted to go see her...so we went...and we were
able to have a good contact with her! Then went to see Charlie, an
older gentlemen in the Ward, who is in a nursing home and physically
not able to do things....but mentally is still kicking. It was a.
Great visit! Then went and saw charla, and another great visit. She
had a great fasting day, and we were able to see lots of progress in
her. Fasting brings miracles yall.
Then home, planning, and night schedule.
Friday, November 14th.
Great day!
Went and got to suprise Jaci ( sister la Plantes daughter) early
before she went to school...and she was so happy! Sister pickup
braided her hair, and her dad ( Tony) got her some cute earrings too.
We had a great scripture study too as sister pickup was doing her
hair. It was fun! Then home, studied, and left around 10 for a
birthday breakfast that the relief society president, sister suchomel
puts on. We had charla, an investigator, come with us! She was so
excited too! She told everyone it was my birthday on the 17th, and it
was so fun just getting to hang out with lovely ladies of the Ward.
Charla exchanged info with sister suchomel so she could get the Ward
activities sent to her! We left after eating, said goodbyes, then
sister pickup and I headed to the church for weekly planning...and it
was great! Lots of good planning happened.
Then lunch, and contacted more referrals before the lesson with austin
and gerald!
The addleys were at the lesson as well as a friend of austin
came...and since it was austins birthday on Wednesday...there was
cake. It was great. We ate cake as we read a general conference
talk...that's the way to do it yall! We were fed spiritually and
physically haha it was great.
Then dinner with the kesters, and we had some great Korean food...lots
of fun food we tried...seaweed chips, lettuce wraps, some sushi stuff,
Kim shi, and lots of other stuff that I can't pronounce or spell. Haha
but it was good. They had some of the other young couples in the Ward
come too so it was a packed house....and we got to get to know them
better.
There was traffic on one of the main roads so we had to wait for a
little bit before we could get to anyone's house...but when we were
able to drive on it past the construction...we went to the astles to
visit them...and dacoda was there! Totally unexpected. But it was such
a tender mercy...and we had a great visit and lesson with everyone!!
The lord provides miracles when we work hard. It's cool to see that
happen.
Then after that visit, went to start the barrys fast with them...then
home to plan and bed. We were exhausted. It was such a great day!
Saturday, November 15th.
Spent most of the day at the barrys. We did a lot of service over
there...and cut up a lot of fruit after we did yardwork so sister
pickup and I smelled like oranges, persimmons, and berrys. It was
great haha! After service, we had a great lesson with them about
giving thanks and how we can always find something to be grateful for!
Sean and sister barry both did their day of fasting while we were over
there...working with food haha it was kinda funny too haha but they
were good sports about it. Sean asked if we could come over again on
Monday and have another lesson so it was great!
Then home to change, and a lesson with wendy...and it was great!! Then
went to try to contact a few more referrals....some interested, and
some not home. We sure tried though! Then went to see a few members to
see how they were doing- we saw the bramletts, and the meteers. Both
quick visits but we could tell they just needed some cheering up...so
it was inspired!
Then a late dinner, I had a smoothie with lots of good stuff in
it...lots of fruit. Yummy! Then tried a few more people, came back
home planned...and night schedule.
Good day. Lots of fun things happened.
Sunday, November 16th.
Meetings went well today, brother stoddard was out of town so one of
our Ward missionaries came to take his place for today haha and it was
gerald. So it was a great time with him there haha went home for
lunch, then visited some other people.
Church went great! Sister Joyner spoke on prayer in relief society,
and it was a great lesson. The spirit was strong.
We had Tony la plante come, and they all left after sacrament prob oh
to celebrate jacis birthday. It was good to see them!
After church, we updated everything. Then went to see some people. We
had to run home to get something...and the elders were late for dinner
so we pulled a prank on them by telling them the thomsons left cuz
they were late...so they went out( the elders were supposed to come
for dinner ) so sister pickup answered the door, told them they
weren't home...etc. They believed her for a good few minutes...then
quickly realized that it was a joke. Funniest thing. All of us were
laughing for a little bit. Then we left and went to dinner with the
meteer family, such good people. We had a great time over there- super
missionary minded people.
Then stopped by Amberly and her family, shared a mesage with them.
Then came home and Sunday night routine.
Monday, November 17th,
Today is preparation day aka PARTY DAY.
I always say that as a joke hahaha BUT it's actually my birthday
today! That's right! Big 21 yall! My mom, grandparents, sister, and
the thomsons( members we live with ) gave me presents and cards!! I'll
take some pictures and send them with the email.
I woke up to find a sign for me with my first name hahahaha! It was
weird to see my first name on a sign lol #missionaryproblems So that's
the first cute thing I woke up too.
Then I go into the bathroom...and find my moms package with the
thomsons card on top of the counter...,and on the mirror "happy
birthday!" Written in dry erase marker by sister pickup. I just about
died laughing cuz I was so happy and I was waking up too...it was like
6:30 guys. It was so sweet. I love yall so much! You have no idea how
missionaries love cards and gifts when they are away from home...WE
love it.
Then my email was blowing up with everyone on FB writing on my
timeline, and emails from family, RC's, Investigators, and lots of
members calling us as well as the mission office to tell me happy
birthday. Seriously, I'm surrounded by kind hearted people. I love it.
The lord blesses his missionaries. It's been a great start already,
and it's only noon. Our plans for today, go down to lincoln and chill
with the other missionaries AND eat some cookie cake I made this
morning too. that's right. I made my own cookie cake yall. And it is
delicious. That's the ONLY thing I wanted. Cookie cake. There are
pictures of that too. The icing on it is ....hersheys cookies n' cream
frosting. YUM.
It. Is. So. Good.
Then after p-day, dinner then the barrys, they wanted us to come over
to have a lesson and to have some of the persimmon sauce we made on
ice cream in celebration of my birthday at the end. Perfect day for
Monday. So we are excited.
This week was great!! I hope yall are able to see miracles too in your
week as well. I love yall and am so grateful for everyone one of you.
Enjoy the pictures!
Until next week,
Sister Matchett...now 21 years old. Crazyyy. Love yall! :)
